Purple has long been a popular choice of colour for a wedding and while it is most commonly associated with royalty, when used in a wedding it symbolises passion, wisdom and happiness. I think purple, especially darker shades of purple look beautiful contrasted against bright shades of green. It’s also a really flattering colour that suits most complexions so you won’t need to worry about finding a colour to suit all your bridesmaids. In fact, soft shades of lilac have proved a popular choice for brides with some even opting for a wedding dress in this shade – a great example is Sophia Coppola’s wedding dress which is perfect for a more informal and relaxed wedding.

As you have probably seen from previous posts, I am rather fond of birdcage veils. I think they are a really beautiful alternative to a traditional veil but when adding up costs for your outfit the veil can turn out to be quite an expensive addition.

If you fancy testing out your sewing skills (or perhaps your mom’s) then Project Wedding shows you how to make your own birdcage veil. http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/how-to-make-a-birdcage-veil
