There is nothing cuter than polka dots so why not consider opting for a polka dot themed wedding. It’s retro, fun yet still elegant and puts your own personal touch on the day. Go for full on polka dot glamour by adding it to the invitations, cake and tablecloths and the blue polka dot shoes from bhldn will have your ‘something blue’ covered!

If you’re not keen on adding polka dots in colour, then look to these beautiful dresses and veils with subtle white on white polka dots.  And monochrome is always a chic colour scheme for a wedding and this black and white polka dot cocktail dress would be a gorgeous choice for your bridesmaids.

emerald, aqua and cream…

Whoever said blue and green don’t mix only have to take a look at the gorgeous colour combo. Emerald and cream is cited as a popular choice of colour at weddings this year but for a fresh take why not add in aqua which balances the deep emerald hue. I particularly love the mix and match hued ties for the grooms which would look gorgeous with a grey suit. According to my gran, wearing green at a wedding is considered bad luck but I think emerald green bridesmaid dresses would look so stunning with cream bouquets. And just look at these cute mini cakes from Martha Stewart Wedding that illustrate just how well this colour scheme works.

How amazing do these dessert bars look? Why should you restrict yourself to simply one dessert or one cake at your wedding? Apparently Kate and William didn’t and had two separate cakes. Choose from retro candy in vintage apothecary jars – visit Borrowed and Blue  for a choice of jars.

Alternatively go for lots of mini versions of all your favourite desserts from cucpcakes, chocolate nibbles, cookies and lemon meringue (my favourite) And if you’re going for an American style 4th of July wedding why not serve a selection of homemade pies from apple to blueberry and peacon – yum!

Cake pops seem to have taken the baking world by a storm and have now become quite a popular substitute to a wedding cake. It used to be all about the cupcake which of course continues to reign supreme but cake pops are a delightful alternative. They offer the perfect size portion of cake for each guest but can also be served in addition to a small wedding cake or as adorable little favours for your guests. Here are some really eye catching ways to display your cake pops. I really love the glass domed cake stand and lid or the whole tiered cake made from cake pops in a graduating colour scheme. Check out Cake Pop People or Lolli Cakes for your own wedding cake pops.
