There is nothing cuter than polka dots so why not consider opting for a polka dot themed wedding. It’s retro, fun yet still elegant and puts your own personal touch on the day. Go for full on polka dot glamour by adding it to the invitations, cake and tablecloths and the blue polka dot shoes from bhldn will have your ‘something blue’ covered!

If you’re not keen on adding polka dots in colour, then look to these beautiful dresses and veils with subtle white on white polka dots.  And monochrome is always a chic colour scheme for a wedding and this black and white polka dot cocktail dress would be a gorgeous choice for your bridesmaids.

shoes, shoes, shoes…

Shopping for wedding shoes can be a bit of a dilemma. Unless you are wearing a short or three quarter length dress, where you are quite happy to spend a bit of extra money on shoes and make them a statement, then you don’t generally want to spend too much on them. But is it worth spending money if you are wearing a long dress and you know they won’t be seen that much especially when more than anything you need them to be comfortable.

The bride to be was lucky enough to find a gorgeous pair of shoes on sale which is a great piece of advice for any brides on the hunt for shoes at the moment. Another great piece of advice is to consider two pairs of shoes – heels for the ceremony and the dinner and then flats for the party and dancing. Do you have any advice for brides to be shopping for shoes?

For something a bit unusual atop of your cake why not go for this beautiful arrangement that I found on my favourite site, bhldn. This crystal cloche cake topper is something really special and elegant. A combination of glass pearls, vines and silver bells with a Swarovski encrusted bow, this will make the perfect keepsake long after your wedding.

After the success of Black Swan last year and fashion designers like Chloe featuring ballet inspired clothing on their catwalks, ballet has experienced a resurgence in popularity while the beautiful blush tones and romance of ballet are the perfect backdrop for a wedding. Monique Lhuillier and Vera Wang are the place to go for romantic big gowns while these pink satin shoes from bhldn would be the perfect compliment to your dress or if you’re not keen on heels go for a simple pair of satin ballet pumps.

Keep the colour scheme pale with shades of blush, pale pink and cream and maybe a hint of metallic. Check out Martha Stewart Weddings for some great favour ideas like these knotted marshmallows or cake pops which double up as place settings and favours.

While most of your guests will be happy sipping prosecco or wine, make sure you don’t forget about the guests who don’t drink alcohol. Serve them up something more exciting than soft drinks and water, and why not try lemonade as a refreshing alternative.

These vintage inspired serving ideas would be a great way to display lemonade at the reception. Choose pink or plain, and serve them in glass jars or large glass drink dispensers. Try visiting vintage hire shops like Savoir Weddings or Vintage Style Hire  to source props  like these for your wedding.

new bhldn collection…

I was excited to see that BHLDN has added a new collection of gowns to their site. A mix of both long and short, big and sleek, each dress retains all the key details that BHLDN is becoming synonymous with. From ruffles, pleats, ribbons and embroidery; each dress is unique and guaranteed to make you stand out in a sea of non-descript frothy numbers. Perfect for the vintage bride is this stunning Arcadia gown or for an elegant yet understated dress the Elysium gown is definitely one worth considering.

Choosing your bridesmaids is such an important decision but how do you do it? As far as I knew it was generally done over a few glasses of wine but turns out there are cards and invitations out there specifically designed for the bride to send out to her bridesmaids and maid of honour. Some even include all the information on the dress, shoes and colour scheme of the wedding which is a lovely concept. I’m not sure if its completely neccessary but its still a really sweet idea and when you see some of the really cute stationery invites out there I’d be pretty tempted when it comes time to ask my bridesmaids.
