emerald, aqua and cream…

Whoever said blue and green don’t mix only have to take a look at the gorgeous colour combo. Emerald and cream is cited as a popular choice of colour at weddings this year but for a fresh take why not add in aqua which balances the deep emerald hue. I particularly love the mix and match hued ties for the grooms which would look gorgeous with a grey suit. According to my gran, wearing green at a wedding is considered bad luck but I think emerald green bridesmaid dresses would look so stunning with cream bouquets. And just look at these cute mini cakes from Martha Stewart Wedding that illustrate just how well this colour scheme works.

Boutonnieres are just as important as the bridal bouquet so make sure to pay special attention when choosing it, with either the bride or the groom (depending on whose the more creative of the two) giving it a personalised touch. Traditionally the boutonniere was a single bloom plucked from the bride’s bouquet and worn on the left lapel, over the groom’s heart.

Nowadays the boutonniere can be anything from a single bloom to fresh sprigs of rosemary, unripened berries or get really creative and go for fabric flowers like these from Martha Stewart or how about this quirky guitar buttonhole from Etsy.  If you fancy having a go at one yourself then check out crafting queen Martha Stewart’s how to guide to get you on your way.

Who knew yellow and grey could look so good for a wedding? This colour scheme would be perfect for a Spring wedding as that sunshine yellow would look so pretty against a crisp Spring day. The soft grey works really well contrasted with the yellow as it adds an elegance without being too formal and would be a great choice for an outdoor wedding. It’s such an interesting contrast of grey dresses for the bridesmaids as I know most people would be tempted to go for a yellow dress but I much prefer the pop of yellow against the dresses which works equally well with the floral buttonhole against the groom’s grey suit. For grey bridesmaid dress inspiration make sure to check out Dessy – they honestly have every colour under the rainbow and such a wide range of styles, you really are spoilt for choice.

suits for the sun…

While deciding the wedding dress is definitely one of the most important decisions, lest not forget the groom as his suit will define the style of the wedding just as much as the dress, flowers and table settings. With the wedding taking place in Italy in June we’re expecting a hot and sunny day and somehow black or navy seems like it will be way to harsh in the warm sunlight.

Just looking at a few of these beautiful beach and lakeside weddings, the one thing they all have in common besides the gorgeous sunshine is the groom and bridal parties beige and stone suits. The stone coloured suits add a more relaxed feel to the ceremony and look stylish when paired with a pale blue shirt or white shirt and blue tie or if your wedding is particularly informal then no tie at all. This could be just the inspiration the guys need when it comes to choosing their suits and then it is simply down to finding the perfect dress for the bridesmaids.
