an alternative aisle…

I realise I’ve been struggling this week to blog. It’s a real tricky balancing act between a full-time job and this but I love my blog so much that I’m going to make more an effort to try keep posting lots of lovely things. I found this on Wedding Wire and thought it was such an ingenious way of mixing up the standard seating arrangement that you have at a wedding. This way everyone gets a close-up of the  bride as she walks down the aisle and creates a more intimate feeling being encircled by your guests. While there is also less of a need to create an alter as you would have in a traditional seating plan.

If you fancy a destination wedding why not consider Mexico. There are plenty of beautiful resorts which cater for weddings like the Palmilla One&Only Resort in Los Cabos where you can enjoy the glorious sunshine and if you fancy add a bit of the local culture and tradition to your day. I love the idea of the handpainted maracas as wedding favours for your guests and why not opt for local plants instead of flowers like these cacti centrepieces. Let’s not forget that a wedding in Mexico can’t be done without sampling the local tequilas and food. The innovative presentation of the mini tequila, limes and tortillas turns them into their very own centrepieces.

There was much publicised about whether Kate Middleton did her own make-up for the wedding, and if she did, it really is pretty brave considering the amount of scrutiny that she knew she would be under. But more and more brides are choosing to do their own make-up as most fear that they won’t end up looking like themselves. Personally I think I’d still love to get my make-up done as I doubt I’d ever be able to make it stay put all day but if you were getting married abroad then it would definitely pay to know how to do your own make-up.

With this is mind there are some really great professional courses specially tailored to bridal make-up like the one at The London College of Fashion or opt for a private make-up lesson courtesy of The Session School which can be done at your home or at their London studio. Alternatively visit some of your favourite make-up brands like Bobbi Brown or MAC who will offer expert advice and lessons on how to create the perfect look for your wedding day.
